The Rise and Fall of the Mighty Desert Truffle
I will present the plight of these specialized fungi, which grow with limited plant hosts in arid and semi-arid lands, under specific climate conditions. I will discuss the threats they face and how they attempt to adapt. The plight of the desert truffle calls attention also to the precarious position of endemic fungi attempting to thrive in specific habitats everywhere.
