An overview of the role that fungi play in keeping us healthy and killing us. This talk will discuss the latest understanding of the fungal microbiome and its possible role in modulating the immune system, the uses of phalloidin from Amanita phalloides in cancer research, and fungal diseases ranging from ergotism to athlete's foot to deadly fungal brain abscesses.
