President of Cascade Mycological Society in Eugene, Oregon. Member of Northwest Lichenogists. Professionally, I am a botanist. I have been mushrooming and foraging for edible plants for over 40 years. I dye and teach dyeing wool and silk with mushrooms, lichens and native plants. At the Oregon Country Fair, I do a fresh display of local edible, medicinal and poisonous plants. I do a display of identified lichens at the Mt. Pisgah Arboreteum Mushroom show. I eat about 40 mushroom species and collect even more species for dye. My favorite mushroom is currently Hydnellum suaveolens because it makes beautiful blues and greens and makes the wool smell like anise.
